Winter Planting – Get in quick!
The rain has arrived, have you got winter 2025 planting plans, areas crying out for some native planting? Get in now!
If you are thinking of planting waterways or erodible hillsides in winter 2025, please get in touch with us as soon as possible, so we can set you up with a KMR Field Advisor early and ensure a smooth run up to winter planting.
To find out more, get in touch with your Fonterra SDA or complete an application on the KMR website.
As a reminder, KMR can pay up to 50% of the costs of:
- Fencing to protect waterways
- Native planting near waterways and the coastal margin
- Projects that treat erodible hill country:
- Continuous canopy and permanent forest cover using native species or non-weedy, non-pine exotic species (e.g. eucalypts or redwoods)
- Fencing and management to support regeneration of native forest
- Space planting of poplars while maintaining some grazing.
What KMR offers:
- Free advice – we walk the land with you to discuss your aspirations and project options
- Funding – KMR pays a contribution (up to 50%) towards eligible sediment reduction projects
- Planning and support – our Field Advisors prepare a plan to access KMR funding and provide support through the project
- Support for engagement and project costs – if you are a community group, marae, iwi/hapū or other collective.
Please contact the KMR team on hono@kmr.org.nz if:
- Your land is in the Kaipara Moana catchment
- You are thinking of fencing this summer or planting in winter
- You’d like to know more about how KMR can support you.
