International Day for Biodiversity 2025
Kaipara Moana Remediation is working hard to increase biodiversity across our catchment. With a goal to plant 14.9 million trees and plants over ten years, we’ve already planted over 2.5 million and are on track to plant many, many more this winter.
Many of the species grown by KMR’s 19 local nurseries are taonga species – valued and valuable to local iwi/hapū and communities. All our native planting plans include a diversity of species, and we eco-source our plants to honour our commitment to the ‘right tree in the right place’.
As one of the largest catchment groups in the country, KMR supports communities leave the land more resilient and healthier than they found it. We share below some of our recent stories as an inspiration:
- Working with Te Uru Rākau to share learnings on biodiversity impacts on farm
- BFEA 2025 Winner Rob & Many Pye have shown a lifetime commitment to improving biodiversity on their land
- The Forest Bridge Trust, and the Te Whio farm in Whangaripo Valley use riparian planting to ensure nature can thrive
- Brandon & Kiri Edwards are working on the Ngāherehere o Huruiki reforestation project to restore what was once thriving forest.
Come and play your part on International Biodiversity Day – KMR makes it easy to take the first steps to protect and restore New Zealand’s unique biodiversity. Get in touch today at https://kmr.org.nz/application/
